Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU Admission 2021
The candidates should meet the eligibility criteria prescribed below to be eligible for IGNOU admission 2021:
For bachelor’s degree course:
- BA, B.Sc B.Com, BBA and BCA: The candidates who have cleared their class 12th or equivalent exam from a recognized board are eligible.
- B.Ed: Applicants should have any bachelor’s and/ or master’s degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/ Commerce/ Humanity with not less than 50% mark. Those with BE/ B.Tech degree in any specialization with 55% marks are eligible too.
- Bachelor of Library and Information Sciences: A bachelor’s degree with 50% marks for general candidates and 45% marks for SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH category is required.
For master’s degree course:
- MA: The applicants should have completed their bachelor’s degree course in the relevant specialization to be eligible.
- M.Com: Those with a bachelor’s degree in any field are eligible to apply.
- MCA: A bachelor’s degree in any stream and Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level or graduation level is required.
- MBA: Applicants who hold a bachelor’s degree in any field or a Chartered Accountancy/ Cost Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship degree with not less than 50% marks (45% marks for reserved category candidates) are eligible.
- M.Sc: The candidates should have done B.Sc with specialization field in order to be eligible.
- M.Ed: Candidates with B.Ed degree with no less than 55% marks in aggregate and 2 years of experience can apply.
- M.Tech: BE/ B.Tech in the relevant field of specialization is required to be eligible for M.Tech courses.
Diploma course:
- Diploma in Event Management: A pass in class 12th exam with English as a subject is required.
- Diploma in Dairy Technology: The candidates should have cleared their class 12th exam with to be eligible.
- Diploma in Critical Care Nursing: Those who are in-service Nursing professionals and hold GNM/ B.Sc/ M.Sc Nursing are eligible.
Postgraduate diploma course:
- PG Diploma in Computer Applications: A bachelor’s degree in any stream with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level or graduation level is required.
- PG Diploma in Food Safety & Quality Management: Science Graduates with Chemistry/ Bio-Chemistry or Microbiology as one of the subjects are eligible to apply.
- PG Diploma in Plantation Management: Candidates with graduation in any stream can apply for this course.
IGNOU Application Form 2021
The application form for IGNOU admission 2021 will be released on the official website of the university www.ignou.ac.in. The candidates must make sure that they fulfill all the prescribed eligibility criteria before applying for the admission process.
- The candidates can fill the application form by providing their basic personal and educational details.
- Photograph and signature of the candidates will also be uploaded in the application form in scanned format.
- Once all the required information is provided into the form, the candidates can submit it online.
- The application form should be checked carefully before submission as any kind of error can make it liable for rejection.

IGNOU Admit Card 2021
- Admit card for IGNOU admission 2021 will be released a few weeks before the day of the examination.
- The admit card can be downloaded by visiting the official NTA website www.ntaignou.nic.in and using the registration details of the candidates.
- Upon downloading, the candidates should take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center on the exam day.
- Important details related to the exam like venue, date and time will be communicated to the candidates through the admit card.
- Candidates are suggested to preserve their admit card till the complete process of admission is over.
IGNOU Admission 2021 Result
- Authorities will declare the result of the entrance exam through online mode that can be checked from the official website.
- On the basis of marks secured by the candidates in the entrance exam, a merit list will be prepared.
- Further process of counseling and admission of the candidates will be conducted as per their names in the merit list.
- For the courses with no entrance exam, the list will be drawn on the basis of marks of the candidates in the qualifying exam.
IGNOU Counseling 2021
- Counseling of the shortlisted candidates will be done on the basis of their position in the merit list.
- At the time of counseling, documents of the candidates will be verified and therefore they should carry all their documents (in original and photocopy) with them.
- Candidates will also be allowed to provide their choice for course specialization at the time of counseling.
- After successful verification of documents, the candidates will be allotted seats as per their merit.
IGNOU Admission 2021 FAQs
Do I need to appear for entrance exam for any course at IGNOU?
No. For some courses, admission is granted on the basis of entrance exam while for some others, on the basis of qualifying exam.
I haven’t cleared my qualifying exam yet. Can I still apply for admission?
The candidates who will clear their qualifying exam before the commencement of the admission process can apply for the same.
Can I ask for refund for the application fee once it is submitted?
Once paid, the application fee will not be refunded or transferred under any circumstances.
What if I fail to report for admission in the given time limit?
Those candidates who fail to report for the admission within the prescribed time limit will be considered as disqualified and their seat will be forfeited.
Where do I get the study material for my course?
The candidates who are shortlisted for admission can get the study material by visiting the concerned regional center.
