GATE Eligibility Criteria 2022: The aspirants who are planning to appear in the upcoming Graduate Aptitude Test in engineering i.e. GATE aspirants can check the eligibility criteria for GATE exam from here. Before starting the application form filling up procedure, the candidate must ensure that whether he/she satisfies the GATE  eligibility criteria or not. The conducting body has set some conditions related to academic qualifications, pass percentage, age limit etc which candidates have to fulfill in order to be eligible for GATE exam. If a candidate fails to meet with any of the given eligibility conditions then he/she will be not allowed to appear for the exam or admission process. GATE is a national level Post Graduate engineering entrance examination, which held for offering admission to M.E./M.Tech and Ph.D. courses at IITs, NITs, IISc, GFTIs and other reputed Universities in India. Every year, this entrance examination is organized jointly by the IISc, Bangalore and seven IITs in support of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE. The GATE exam will be held for 23 papers. Out of these, a candidate can appear only in any one GATE paper. GATE Eligibility Criteria 2022 (In general)

  • Indian citizen along with international candidates from Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be eligible to appear in GATE exam 2022.
  • The candidates must have completed or must be in their final year of Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology or Master’s degree in Science in any relevant subject.
  • There is no age limit for the GATE Exam.
  • There is no specified minimum pass percentage in the qualifying exam to apply for GATE exam 2022.
  • To be eligible for GATE, the applicants should have cleared B.Tech/ B.E. / B.Pharm or B. Arch or B.Sc. (Research)/ B.S. or M. Sc. / M.A. / MCA or Professional Society Examination (equivalent to B.Tech/ B.E. / B.Arch) or Integrated B.S.-M.S. / Integrated M.Sc. or Integrated M.E./ M.Tech (Post-B.Sc.) or Integrated M.E./ M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2) .

Eligibility Criteria for GATE Exam in detail

Post Diploma in Science

Presently appearing in the final year or already completed 2022
M.A./ M.Sc./ MCA or equivalent Candidate should have done Master’s degree in any branch of Science/ Statistics/ Mathematics/ Computer Applications or equivalent Presently appearing in the final year or already completed 2022
Int. M.E./ M.Tech or Dual Degree (after Diploma or 10+2) Should have passed Integrated Master’s degree courses or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology (5-year course) Presently appearing in the 4th/ 5th year or already completed 2023

Professional Society Examinations (equivalent to B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch.) Should have completed B.E/ B.Tech/ B.Arch equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by UPSC/ MHRD/ AICTE for an instance AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers-India, AMIE by Institution of Engineers-India Completed Section A or equivalent of such professional programme NA

List of documents required in support of Eligibility for GATE Exam 

For the candidates who qualify in the year 2021 or earlier:

They have to submit their degree certificate/provisional certificate/course completion certificate/professional certificate/membership certificate issued by the institute or society.

For the candidates who expected to complete in 2022 or later

Such candidates need to upload a Certificate from the Head of the Department/Institute or a copy of marksheet for Section -A of AMIE. This document must have the signature and stamp of the Head of Institute/Department with present date.
