CEED Syllabus: Part A & Part B

CEED Syllabus: IIT Bombay has prescribed a particular syllabus for CEED (Common Entrance Examination for Design). The syllabus of the exam will include the name of subjects, topics, and chapters from which the questions will be asked in the exam. CEED Syllabus describes the wide areas that a candidate should know about to score good marks in the CEED Exam. Understanding of CEED Syllabus is important for candidates in order to make better preparation strategy so that they can score high in the exam. The syllabus will be divided into two parts i.e. Part A & Part B. In the part -A questions will be based on Visualization and Spatial Ability, Analytical and Logical Reasoning, Environmental and Social Awareness, Language and Creativity, Design Thinking and Problem Solving and Observation and Design Sensitivity. The Syllabus of Part B will include the content of Creativity, Drawing, Communication Skills and Analytical & Problem Solving Skills. Candidates are advised to go through the CEED complete syllabus of both parts and prepare accordingly.

Environmental and Social Awareness General awareness of environmental factors such as population, climate, water, vegetation, weather, pollution, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment along with the awareness of design terminologies, social and cultural connection with design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses, History of art, sculpture and literature.
Language and Creativity The ability to understand passages in commonly used English language. Ability to distinguish innovative options and think out of the box, Ability to think creatively in terms of alternatives
Design thinking and Problem Solving The ability to understand the context, the users and constraints and select the most appropriate solution for a given design problem.
Analytical and Logical Reasoning Ability to analyze given information logically and select the most appropriate solutions. Arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria, Ability to weigh opinions. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question.
Visualization and Spatial Ability Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test the understanding of transformation and I or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships.
Observation and Design Sensitivity Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes. Ability to detect concealed properties in day to day life and think critically about them.
